●『生物と無生物のあいだ』福岡伸一
心に染みいってくるような本だった。事実は小説よりも奇なり、とはこのことだね。
とりあえず、分野問わず誰もの必読書だろ！と思えるほどいい本だった。
もしこの本が生物の定義のみに焦点を当てていたり、人間関係等を含む研究者の世界をつらつらと書いている物であったり、あるいは、遺伝子からいかに生物が形作られるプロセスを記載するだけのものだったなら、こんなに面白くなかっただろうなぁと。
全てを横断しつつ、生物の本質からそれこそ筆者の生い立ちやどろどろした人間関係まで、書いてある本であることが面白い。多分、この横断的な記載は今接しているリアルの世界と似たようなもので、メチャメチャ頭のいろいろな思考を駆けめぐり、それを複合したような感動をこの本は与えてくれる。
時に、理論を綺麗に記載した本に感動し、人間の感情を濃縮した小説に心打たれるけど、それを横断してくるような本というのは、なかなかないんジャマイカ。
ハイ。褒めすぎ。まあいいじゃん。褒めて損はない。
まぁーとにかく。良い本でしたよと。読めよと。
少しネタバレっぽく本文について書いてみると、
この文章の第一章では、かの１０００円札でもあった野口英夫野口英世（なんと恥ずかしいミス）が大した人物ではないことを記述するところから始まる。第一章にこーいう文章を持ってくると言うのは、結構不思議な感じではあった。
野口英世は日本の科学者でない人たちにだけ人気があるようだ。科学者としての彼は、実験は証明が不足されていたり、ねつ造的なものが見られたりと、彼の書いた論文は、現代では引用されることもほとんどなく図書館でホコリをかぶっているらしい。
その野口英世が取ったであろう、正当でない（手間を省いた）手順についてこまかく書いてる。
（追記：wikipediaのノートにも結構詳しく書いてある。本文は褒めるばっかりだけど・・・。）
確かにこの文章で筆者は日本人が普通の人である野口英夫をあがめることを皮肉りたかったのもあるのだろうと思う。しかし、読み終わって今思えば筆者は、この批判的な章を一番最初に持ってきたのは、生物学というのはとても繊細な手順を踏んでやっと成果が出る物であること、それを言いたかったのかなぁと思う。
そして、この第二章より厳密で美しい科学の世界とそれにかかわる科学者の行動が、それこそDNAの螺旋構造のように、密接に関係しながら展開されていく。
そんなこんなは、これ以降ここで書いても意味がないどころか、意味が改編させられて悪影響だろうから、本を買って読んでください。３００ページ無いくらいの文章には、ほんとにすっごい価値が詰まっているよ。
ちなみに、読めば生命の成り立ちが解るようになるかと言えば全くならない。それどころか、謎は深まるばかり・・・。今こーやってキーボードをかたかたしていること自体、不思議で不思議で・・・。
ちなみに最近のブームは「秩序」と言う言葉だったけど、今後は「動的平衡」ブームがくる！
